Worker Profile: Carrie Warren
Today, I want to introduce the profile of Carrie Warren. She is a flight attendant. She has done this job for eight years, since she was twenty-six. She really loves and enjoys her job. She believes that she will be pushing carts when she is seventy. However, at the beginning, she did not want to be a flight attendant. She thought it was totally demeaning. Just because her father pays her a hundred bunks, then she applied to be a flight attendant.
At first, starting out was really tough. The training was awful. She learned how to talk right, walk right, act right, and have your makeup right and hair right. She also got trained in CPR, first aid and so on. In the end, she got though it and chose NY to work. Nevertheless, everything is not as good as she expected. She and her coworker were informed that they had five days to live in a hotel which was paid. Then they must move out and find the house for themselves. They moved to Queens and lived together in just in a bedroom apartment. They are also junior man on the totem pole, they just wanted you do everything that they did not want to do, you had to. Most of the women around her were kind of sorority girls. It made her lonely. However, she likes her job. The more experience she has, the more fun and power she can deal with everything. Now she is like the boss on the airplane. She just works twelve days a month, so she has a ton of time. She also can travel many places. Other girls are just looking for a rich man to marry, but she is focused on her career. She has more ambitions on her career. In addition, she is a principled girl. It was close to Christmastime, that’s her last leg home, from Denver back to NY. She met a man with his two kids. The man had some problem with his luggage. Even though she helped him to solve the problem, he also felt unhappy. When she started the food service, the man had the trouble with her. The man threw the cheeseburger to her. Just because the turkey salads were sold out, he insisted to have it. Carrie was very angry with him; she insisted stopping service to other people until him apologized to her. Finally, the man apologized to her. Therefore her boss blamed her, and she got a week off. Whatever happens, she loves her job.
This is an interesting worker profile for me, because being a flight attendant is my dream job. Also I like her attitude to her job. No matter what situation she faces, she always keep smile to everyone. She clearly knows why choose this job for her career. And what she needs to learn and insist. I like how she said that she works not for looking for a rich man to marry; she is forced on her career. In my opinion, no matter what we do, no matter where we work, we should not only focus on money and fun, but also focus on our career. Whether our business is big or small, as long as we know what we want to be or want to do. These all can become our career. A business that we like, regardless of size, can enhance our value of life. A good career can let us better enjoy our life. As for me, no matter in the future what kind of job to choose or what kind of person to be. I need to know how I can focus on my job. And how I can let the job become my career. I believe that only we work as career, I can achieve my dream come true easily.
